Seasonal shuttlebuses in the Lake District 2022
Summer is always a great time for exploring the Lake District by bus and this season the good news is we have 3 additional bus services laid on to help us get to some of the more inaccessible beautyspots. These are the Buttermere shuttlebus, the Wasdale shuttlebus and the Cat Bells shuttlebus.
Seasonal service between Cockermouth & Buttermere that travels through Lorton Vale and alongside Crummock Water & Rannerdale. Service operates daily from 23 July until 4 September 2022. 7 trips per day each way. Free service!
Seasonal service between Ravenglass & Wasdale Head that travels via Gosforth, Nether Wasdale, Wast Water Countess Beck & Wastwater Overbeck Bridge. In summer 2022 the bus will run on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays during July & August, until 4 September. There are regular trips through the day from Nether Wasdale to Wasdale Head. Plus two buses in the morning from Ravenglass to Wasdale Head and two in the early evening from Wasdale Head to Ravenglass. Mainline train station at Ravenglass. Free service but donations welcomed to help fund conservation projects in the valley.
Seasonal service between Keswick and Cat Bells mainly designed for those who want to climb the popular peak. This service complements the existing 77/77A seasonal bus service which can also be used to get between Keswick and Cat Bells, continuing on a loop through Borrowdale and Buttermere. Several shuttlebus services daily from 23 July to 4 September 2022. Cost is £2.30 single, £4 return.
It is good to see this commitment to sustainable travel and trying to ease traffic pressures in these beautiful but sensitive areas that are not designed for huge amounts of traffic. Plus you can fully enjoy the scenery as you go and not worry about driving and parking on the narrow roads.
You can find more details for each service in the links provided. Enjoy the shuttlebuses while you can!
